1. How can The PROACT® ERM System help healthcare organizations become more efficient?

proact capabilities risk managementThe PROACT® Suite allows the user to configure the software to meet the needs of their environment and not the other way around. When setting up a LEAP analysis, using the LEAP Module in PROACT, the user can identify the system or part of a system that needs evaluation and diagram this system. They will be able to define what they are looking at for loss and input the data in a few easy steps.

Once the data is input, the program will compile the data into useful information. One of these bits of information is the identification of the 20% of the events that are costing us the 80% of our losses, or the Significant Few. Download the PROACT ERM Capabilities PDF

Because of the ease of getting from the inputting of the data to the final report, time savings make the LEAP approach very efficient and effective. Once the analysts is completed, a resulting set of root causes are provided [Physical, Human & Latent], along with a detailed report outlining how those causes were identified. The greatest efficiency however, is the knowledge sharing aspects created by an integrated and networked application. This allows data to be shared between programs and remote users to be able to search these databases for information pertinent to their circumstances.

2. Does The PROACT® Suite meet the Joint Commission's requirements?

Yes, the PROACT® Suite produces a thorough and credible analysis as required by the Joint Commission, Private Payers, and most printing a root cause analysisother accrediting corporations.

With ONE click your team can choose your logo, corporate name, supporting documents and images, as well as choose what to print for your final report.

While most regulatory agencies that oversee tasks such as Root Cause Analysis tend to focus on compliance with their standards and guidelines, PROACT tends to focus on quantifiable impacts on patient safety. PROACT easily meets and exceeds minimum compliance requirements and encourages analysts to forge forward and drill deeper into the understanding of why people make improper decisions at the time they make them. To PROACT, compliance is a by-product and patient safety is the focus.

3. How do I obtain training on the PROACT methodologies and software?

root cause analysis trainingPROACT methodology training is provided by seasoned, career analysts. The instructors are also practitioners, educators, mentors and authors on the topic. We will schedule a time most convenient to your team either at your location or ours in Hopewell Virginia.

PROACT software training is provided by authorized RCI personnel who are heavily involved in the development of the program itself. All RCI training is professionally developed using professional Instructional Technology standards. Our courses are very interactive and involve both knowledge and skill demonstration.

To begin your training today, simply fill in our contact form and request a schedule.

4. How difficult is the software installation?

PROACT Software

Obviously desktop versions can be installed by the user at the client level (generally without much IT involvement). At the Enterprise level, the IT group will need to be involved with how to integrate The PROACT® Suite into their current configuration.

The PROACT®Suite is not a massive, complex package requiring months to install. In fact, 80% of our Enterprise clients have used their own IT expertise to install The PROACT® Suite. With the FREE one year maintenance agreement, our IT staff will provide phone support to insure a successful installation. From the time the IT group receives the software to the time you can use it, the average lapse is 24 hours.

5. How is The PROACT® Suite priced?

proact risk management softwareThe PROACT® Suite is available in Desktop (ACCESS), Enterprise (SQL, ORACLE) and Web (CITRIX) versions.

Pricing is based on the platform desired, the number of users and the number of sites. Bundles are available in increments of 1, 5, 10, 15, 30, 60 and 120+ users. Bundles include LEAP, PROACT RCA and on-site training (5+ users) for each user.

Need to add a user? No Problem - Call us when you have need to train or set up a new user for your team. We are readily available to help you grow your knowledge base!

7. What is Opportunity Analysis?

opportunity analysis OAOpportunity Analysis takes an approach of looking at any system through a “year-at-a-glance” prism. Oftentimes when we look at problems in any given system we see the day-to-day problems that occur and may miss significant trends that have been occurring over a year’s time. For instance on a day-to-day basis we may see blood redraws occur for various reasons and never question them as they are viewed as routine and not really hurting anyone. However, when you look at the same data over a year and find that your facility is redrawing blood over 10,000 times a year, now we may view this as more significant and be interested in why we are allowing this to happen.

OA is going to identify how often they occur in a year and when they do occur, how much loss do they absorb (i.e. - labor, time, expense, etc.). Chronic events are what is truly eating an organization's lunch because they are built in to the system and not regarded as incidents.

8. What Options Do I Have Between Training and Software?

Depending on the needs of the organization they can use a “cafeteria style” approach when designing their proactive program. For instance:

  • Perhaps just training on the PROACT Approach (FMEA, Opportunity and RCA) is all that is needed right now. Our proposals would include only the number of people you have to be trained and the type of software - Enterprise Risk Management or Desk Top.
  • Perhaps you have only five (5) people who will lead analyses, however you would like to train others who will participate on teams. In this case you may only want five (5) software licenses and training on the software for only those five (5) people. However, you may want to train 20 people on the PROACT Approach methodology.
  • Perhaps you have many to be trained on the PROACT Approach Method and would prefer to use your in-house resources to do so, using our material. In this case we could set-up a train-the-trainer program for you.
  • Perhaps you have many people to be trained and they are not all accessible at the same time for classroom training. In this case we can set up pre-recorded, on-line training and your students can take the training on-line at their own convenience. In short, you design how you wish to purchase for your organization.
